IAMCP Communicator
                                                            June 2017 Edition

Welcome from Deb Pfundstein, IAMCP Inspire Chair

Dear IAMCP Colleagues,

The countdown is on to Inspire, Microsoft’s newly named partner conference. As someone who has attended all but one of Microsoft’s past worldwide partner conferences, I am honoured to be the IAMCP International Inspire Chairperson this year.

My professional career has always revolved around the partner community—first as a Microsoft employee focused on the channel and then, since 2010, working directly in a partner company. In fact, of all of my professional achievements, the one I am most proud of is having been named a Prometheus award winner in 2009  (ironically, the one year I was unable to attend WPC).

It has been a delight to be part of the Inspire planning team. The team has been hard at work since February and I cannot wait to see partners enjoying the outcomes. An event like Inspire does not happen without a big team of dedicated and enthusiastic supporters. I want to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at CRG and Microsoft who have been helping us grow our presence at Inspire and who have been quick to respond to all our asks with good cheer.

While we will be true to tradition and offer favourites such as the exclusive executive roundtables, there are some exciting new additions to the Inspire IAMCP experience this year, including a new look and feel for our booth. For example, there will be a welcome reception sponsored by Armor, Crayon, and HPE Aruba, where IAMCP will host an international meeting open to all Inspire attendees. In addition, there will be regional breakout meetings on Monday for US & LATAM and Tuesday for India, EMEA, Australia, APAC, and Canada.  Visit the IAMCP booth for the schedule.

Yet another exciting new addition this year is “Booth Takeover” Sponsorship where sponsoring partners will have an opportunity to talk in depth about their businesses. A big “thank you!” goes out to the takeover sponsors confirmed for this year: Dynasource, Shinydocs, EnvisionIT, Crayon, and HPE Aruba

Keep your eyes peeled for a few other surprises we have planned and do not forget to watch social media to find out the scoop on the Sunday night Speakeasy party. The party is sponsored by the US and open to the entire IAMCP community. In addition to the sponsors mentioned previously, we proudly recognize our Speakeasy sponsors:

With all the support of our partner sponsors, IAMCP’s presence at this year’s conference is sure to inspire!  #IAMCPInspire

Warmest Regards,

Debra Pfundstein

Also present was Katie Stewart to shed some light on Microsoft’s plans for the event.

Cloud Acceleration In Mexico

The IAMCP Mexico and Microsoft brought together community partners to encourage them to catch the wave of digital transformation through the Cloud Acceleration Program. This initiative empowers partners through training, executive coaching, strategic linking, and communication. The objective of the IAMCP is to take the ecosystem of business partners to the next level through:

  • Mentoring and relationship programs;
  • Definition of commercial strategies and improvement in sales processes;
  • Training for technical collaborators.

Hands-on Azure

The IAMCP India West chapter organized the “Hands-on Lab for Azure Fundamentals” in May at the Microsoft Mumbai office. The lab, conducted by Microsoft’s Rao Rajendra Singh, Global Black Belt for Cloud Infrastructure and Specialist in Business Continuity, was attended by 23 partners. This event was part of a series of labs on different Azure workloads referred to as the “Azurification” of the Microsoft partner community.

The lab was mentioned in several press articles. Congratulations to the India West Chapter for a successful event.

A Fresh Start in Phoenix

The Greater Phoenix area chapter of IAMCP is getting a fresh start. The chapter recently appointed a new board of directors. Congratulations to the new team for jumping in and helping to build Microsoft partners in the area:

  • President: Jennifer Didier (Directions Training)

  • Vice President: Julio Cruz (MS Technology Specialists)

  • Secretary: Michael Cocanower (itSynergy)

  • Treasurer: Kathleen French (Robert Half)

Eugene Chi, a General Manager for SMB Channel Sales for Microsoft, contributed his support to and excitement for the new leadership. For more info, check out the press release.

Puerto Rico Cleans Up

The IAMCP Puerto Rico went green in April. More than 129 volunteers of all ages spent a morning to preserve the environment by cleaning up the Tortuguero Nature Reserve, an important natural habitat in Puerto Rico. Even more remarkable is that this initiative has been active and in collaboration with Microsoft for the last 10 years. The smiling faces in the photo taken that morning are evidence of a day well spent!

IAMCP WIT Update - Mentorship Matters!

According to various studies, 1 in 5 women have never had a mentor but 82% of women consider mentorship to be an important career development strategy. Did you also know that 35% of employees without mentors, are considering leaving their jobs in the next 12 months?  Mentorship is one of the most important strategies for developing and retaining employees. However, one of the barriers to finding a mentor is meeting someone appropriate. IAMCP WIT is stepping up to the challenge at Inspire this year by introducing the IAMCP WIT Mentorship Circle event on Sunday July 9th at 2:00 pm. This event is also available for virtual attendees. If this applies to you – register now. If you know someone who could benefit from mentorship, pass along the invitation and support her career development.
