                                                            February 2017 Edition

Welcome from Javier Abreu, President IAMCP International

Dear IAMCP Colleagues,

It is my absolute pleasure to greet you in this month’s newsletter for the first time as President of IAMCP International. I have been a member of IAMCP for 8 years and am passionate about the future opportunities of this organization. We have new regional and chapter boards being elected and committee members appointed to serve our membership in the best way possible and I am excited to be part of it. This month, I am pleased to introduce you to Olivia Trilles, President of the IAMCP EMEA Region. I will be looking forward to working with her and the rest of the International Board. I encourage you to visit the IAMCP Website to find out more about who is dedicating their time to strengthen and grow the IAMCP. As I look out over the year, I am going to be focused on:

1. Delivering value to our members

2. Growing our membership

3. Strengthening our relationship with Microsoft

We have an opportunity every day to demonstrate our value to customers and Microsoft and to thrive through building strong partnerships. I am committed to that vision and welcome your thoughts and ideas.

Warmest Regards,

Javier Abreu,

President, IAMCP International

Introducing IAMCP EMEA Board of Directors
Congratulations to Olivia Trilles, the newly elected president of IAMCP EMEA! We’re turning it over to Olivia to add a few words this month:

Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself and the new IAMCP EMEA team. I am AuraPortal’s CEO (AuraPortal is an iBPMS software, 100% Microsoft technology, which is used by 3.5 million users worldwide). Hear what Satya Nadella says about AuraPortal.

I am new to IAMCP EMEA but not so new in the Microsoft ‘ecosystem’ after 15 years working closely with Microsoft to help large companies increase productivity through business process automation, now focused on Azure. On a personal note, I am 40 years old, half Spanish/half British and passionate with what I do in both my professional and personal sides of life. I believe in `happiness through business´; in going back home every day with the rewarding feeling of ‘having done things right’. Satya Nadella says that “Microsoft is, and always will be, a Partner-led company”. We, the IAMCP, are the perfect instrument to nurture this Partner’s community. We work together because our growth is Microsoft’s growth.

Every success we achieve during 2017 will be a result of team work, and not as individuals. Not only our work as a Board but also from all our chapter members. Please review this link to learn more about the amazing people who work for the EMEA community.

IAMCP & VFI Visit to China

Ryan Risley from the DC Chapter and US IAMCP Advocacy Chair was recently selected as one of five technology leaders from the 90,000 members of Voices for Innovation (VFI) to attend the 2nd Annual Golden Key Workshop in China.   He was accompanied by fellow IAMCP Members, Nikkia Carter, Lacy Finley, Ken Meyer and lead by VFI’s own Jonathan Friebert.  Hosted and sponsored by Microsoft China and the Chinese People’s Association of Friends of Foreign Countries, the business and cultural exchange was centered on three key geographic areas. In Beijing, they met leaders from both Microsoft and China, including the CIO of Microsoft China and the head of the CATR. The group traveled to the City of Guiyang, home to one of the largest data centers in China. The last stop was to Zunyi, where the group launched the “Hour of Code” program in the school. The focus of these workshops was to introduce the leadership, discuss strengths and opportunities to collaborate, and learn from each other. This deep exchange of leadership and ideas was at all levels from city officials, to the startups on InnoWay (Chinese Silicon Valley) to multi-billion dollar technology firms (Xiaomi).

Upcoming Events - Driving Diversity Webinar

Develop & Enable A Diverse Workforce and Culture Webinar - Mark your calendars for March 16th 11 am EST.

Diversity is about meeting the changing needs of our customers. Organizations that seek global market relevancy must embrace diversity—in how they think, act, and innovate.  Diversity must involve how an organization treats its people down to the roots of its business model. Diversity has moved to a must-have strategic business imperative. Any company with a multinational client base must understand the culture and protocols of its disparate groups—especially in their business practices and consumption habits. Find out more from our presenters Sharon Chang of AgilePoint, Inc. and an IAMCP WIT leader and Niamh Coleman of Microsoft who presented this topic at Ignite.

Inspiration to Inception

Imagine Apps undertook a big project about 1 year ago, called AppyFans! AppyFans is a mobile app and a cloud portal that provides the local merchant communities new ways to reach their fans. ‘Appy’, the personal shopping assistant, can uniquely find the best matches and reach people in a meaningful way, based on each users’ past behavior, preferences, location, and context. From inception, this project was envisioned as a global company based in the vibrant Portuguese start-up ecosystem. The natural partner was Microsoft and the Bizspark Program. The BizSpark Program allowed them to test the portal and services in the Azure environment, enabling rapidly expansion to other countries. Even before Microsoft bought Xamarin, the choice was to use it for cross-platform development (iOS and Android; Windows is on the development roadmap). Integration with Navision CRM is a plus! This is currently running in alpha closed tests with some stores in a small town in the center of Portugal. Activity will expand to bigger cities which will function as living labs for the solution in preparation for the global market. The goal is to develop this venture as a world class business in partnership with Microsoft. BizSpark has definitely put this on the right track to success! Members in the Spotlight

The IAMCP In the tradition of sharing and celebrating member success, this month we introduce CAIRO AG and their ongoing partnership with SAC GmbH. A member of the IAMCP since the organization’s inception, CAIRO AG recognized the benefits of the group to be had early on. Combining their existing strengths with those of SAC GmbH allowed both companies to offer customer solutions with increased value and CAIRO AG CEO, Peter Piekenbrock, estimates a 20% increased efficiency of service delivery.
“We use this collaboration with IAMCP partner SAC GmbH to help us in different areas. It’s a wonderful partnership, because now each of us has backup. We supply what the other cannot, and deliver more for the customer through our joint daughter company, acoris AG. We win contracts because we have more than 70 people in our work group rather than the 35 people we had before.” Said Peter Piekenbrock, CEO of CAIRO AG. The full story of CAIRO AG and their partnership with SAC GmbH will be coming soon via a special project. Watch for details in an upcoming newsletter.

Something to think about...
This article by Daphne Kis featured in Recode recently, highlights the opportunities for women in the field of data science and that data will be one way to level out the uneven playing field that many women face in their careers. Building Partner to Partner Business is the fastest path to growth, higher revenue and outpacing the competition. While the number of women in technology is fewer, they bring powerful skills, a different perspective, and a diverse approach to the opportunities inherent in partnerships. IAMCP WIT is launching SMART P2P for Women in Technology, an online seminar and coaching program designed to leverage the strengths of this dynamic community combined with tools, best practices, approaches and peer connections to deliver results.
