IAMCP Communicator
                                                            December 2017 Edition

Welcome from Christine Bongard (IAMCP WIT)

Dear IAMCP Colleagues,

It is my pleasure to pen this welcome message to the IAMCP membership. The opportunity I have had to work with IAMCP and the global IAMCP Women in Technology (WIT) community is one that I cherish. The IAMCP WIT community continues to flourish and do amazing things. But I know we can be bold and do more working together.

There are over 80 IAMCP chapters around the globe. While the IAMCP WIT community has enjoyed rapid growth to a presence of over 50 locations worldwide, there is still much opportunity for expansion. As the loudest voice in the Microsoft ecosystem, we should strive to have a WIT community wherever there is an IAMCP chapter. If you are in a chapter without a WIT community, I would ask and encourage you to approach one of your members and plan to start a community. We have many resources available to support the WIT community initiation. If you are fortunate enough to be in a location where there is both an IAMCP Chapter and IAMCP WIT community, make sure you are working together to raise awareness of the organization and share ideas. Ultimately, working together grows our membership, strengthens the important mandate of advancing more women in technology, and supports and benefits all partners in the Microsoft ecosystem.

Help your chapter and community grow, share your best practices, and go do great things… together!

Warmest Regards,

Christine Bongard

Partnership in Action

“Partnering is a key to growth in an ever growing, ever specializing economy,” was just one of the high-power messages that long-time, dedicated IAMCP chapter leader Rudy Rodriguez shared recently during a morning keynote at Channel Partner Evolution.

In his keynote, Rudy noted that more than $10 Billion of business is done through partner-to-partner relationships within the Microsoft ecosystem.

Share Your P2P Story

We know for a fact that there are thousands, if not millions, of dollars of partnering happening between our IAMCP and IAMCP WIT members. We want to capture these success stories and share them to inspire others about the opportunities that exist in partnerships.

IAMCP India West October Meeting
Events Around the Globe

The UK hosted an exclusive executive roundtable with Hazel Nash, Director, Business Applications - Sales & Technical, Microsoft UK, on November 23rd at the Microsoft campus.

Following the outstanding success at the last IAMCP UK executive roundtable with Mark Bedford, this was an opportunity for IAMCP UK Premier members to join a discussion to obtain a deeper understanding of the strategic imperatives and growth ambitions for Microsoft’s business applications.

This particular roundtable was an interactive, 90-minute closed-group discussion for Premier member executive-level attendees who were willing to share their own customer and partner insights and provide feedback throughout the discussion.

“As an organisation that works very closely with Microsoft partners, IAMCP is providing me new access and insights that can deliver tangible rewards for my organisation.  At the Executive Roundtable I attended with Hazel Nash, I learnt a significant amount about Microsoft’s channel strategy which is of extremely high value to our business” – Elena, IAMCP roundtable attendee.

IAMCP India West:

The India West chapter organized a “Networking and Knowledge” sharing event on the topic of “Hybrid Cloud” in October. The target audience included CxOs from the Microsoft partner community.

The session was kicked-off by Mr. Rao Rajendra Singh from Microsoft, Global Black Belt for Cloud Infrastructure and Specialist in Business Continuity. Rao is an MCSD - Azure Application Architect with experience in development, consulting, and pre-sales in the Microsoft cloud and productivity technology stack. He is a regular speaker at local and international cloud events including TechEd, Future Unleashed, and Azure Vidyapeeth.

The session covered the topics of Azure File Sync, Azure Data Box, and Azure Stack. Participants learned about the differences between Azure File Sync and One Drive/SharePoint and about the use cases for Azure File Sync. The group was also treated to news about Azure Data Box, an extremely competitive service to similar offerings from AWS. Asking questions paid off—partners who spoke up received a Microsoft-branded pen drive as a surprise gift!

Mr. Suresh Ramani, President IAMCP India, closed out the session with a vote of thanks for the speaker. Following that, the meeting concluded with group photos, High Tea, and, networking.

IAMCP Mexico Empowers Partners

According to IDC, by the end of 2017 the market for information technologies in Mexico will grow above its national Gross Domestic Product—that’s 2.82% compared to the 1.5% of the GDP predicted by the Bank of Mexico. Cloud services will have an increase of 28%, with infrastructure as a service representing the largest growth.

With that as context, there is great opportunity for companies to do business in Mexico and tap into its powerful network of Microsoft partners that have the technical capabilities, experience, and financial strength to boost business results.

With an objective of empowering its partners, IAMCP Mexico has established an intelligent one-on-one relationship with members and executives from the Microsoft subsidiary. The goal is to understand Microsoft’s business development strategy, suggest development paths, and align expectations to achieve better resource management. It has likewise set the basis for cooperation among IAMCP Mexico chapter members, leading to more active partnering dynamics and improved business results.

Through a strategic alliance with PROMEXICO, a governmental entity that oversees the commercial presence of the country abroad, IAMCP Mexico establishes relationships between its members and the rest of the world. This approach is particularly relevant for the United States and Canada as it relates to the renegotiation framework for the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

With a successful history, highly specialized talent, macroeconomic and political stability, and an open relationship with the United States, Mexico is a key player in the development of business in North America.

If you would like to know more about P2P opportunities with Mexico based IAMCP Partners, please contact Ricardo Escorihuela, President of IAMCP Mexico.

Best Practices

Thanks to Jon Rivers of Marketing Monarchs for sharing the following tip about highlighting new members in your chapter.

Having IAMCP share news about what is going on in a particular chapter leads to increased chapter awareness and helps it grow. Of particular interest to others who are following a chapter’s activity is news about recent additions to its membership—it is human nature that leads one to wonder if there is something happening at an organization with growing membership that we do not to want to miss out on!

While naming new members and highlighting a bit of personal information about them can create the greatest interest, it is not always required—it can be enough to simply announce new members with a statement like “We’re growing again! The chapter is very pleased to welcome 5 new members this month.” In those cases, however, where you do plan to include a member’s name and company as part of announcement, be sure to get the OK to do that from him or her first.

Regardless of the level of personal detail in the message, be sure to leverage the power of social media to get the word out using #IAMCP and #IAMCPWIT to tag content.

Diversity in the Channel

Five minutes is all that it takes to support this Microsoft sponsored research project looking at the success of diversity programs and campaigns within the Microsoft Partner Network. The goal is to better understand past and current diversity hiring activities within the channel and to provide guidance to partners on building effective diversity hiring campaigns and strategies going forward.

IAMCP WIT - School Update - Thank You!

The school in Haiti recently adopted by Harvest for Humanity serves over 300 children and their families. For the last two years, teachers have not been paid and the children have had no desks, books, or other supplies—but that is about to change. The generous $15,000 donation received by Cheryl Leavitt (co-founder of Harvest for Humanity) at the Women in Technology Charity Luncheon will be used to purchase new computers later this week. We expect to see them in Haiti by early 2018. In addition to creating a computer lab for the students, the facility where the new equipment will be utilized will serve as an adult education space in the evenings and weekends. Some of the funding will also be used to establish internet access at the school, as there is none today.
